Marriott keen to grow in Indian hospitality sector

Marriott International on February 4 said that it is bullish on the Indian hotel industry as Indian hospitality industry would witness much growth. At the launch of Marriott Hotel Whitefield, Bangalore, Marriott International Area vice-president (Indian Subcontinent) Rajeev Menon said that the company has seen immense growth and opportunities since the launch of their hotel in Goa in 1999.

Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield is an exciting addition to the portfolio of Marriott Hotels and Resorts. As India’s fifth and Bangalore’s first, this property embodies the brand philosophy, he said. The US-based company has 18 hotels in the country and globally it has more than 3,700 properties in 74 countries and reported revenues of $12 billion in fiscal 2011.

The company is also building a hotel at the UB City campus in Bangalore under the brand JW Marriott.
