ACE, KATO Form JV For High-Capacity Cranes In India

Action Construction Equipment Limited and Japan’s KATO Works Co have announced ACE KATO Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture to manufacture high-capacity cranes in India for domestic and global markets.

The company will manufacture truck cranes, crawler cranes and rough terrain cranes for infrastructure, transportation, mining, ports, energy, metro rail, industrial and other heavy-duty applications. The joint venture has set up an 11-acre manufacturing facility in Haryana with a planned investment of around Rs 200 crore.

The investment will support manufacturing infrastructure, advanced production systems, technology integration and product development. Further investments will be made in phases to expand capacity and strengthen manufacturing capabilities.

Under the partnership, KATO will lead product engineering, design and technology, while ACE will handle manufacturing, sourcing and localisation. The product roadmap will initially focus on truck, crawler and rough terrain cranes, followed by the phased introduction of more crane models.

The joint venture will focus on progressive localisation through ACE’s supplier ecosystem. Higher local sourcing is expected to improve manufacturing efficiency, optimise production costs, strengthen supply-chain resilience and reduce lead times, while maintaining KATO’s quality and safety standards.

ACE KATO aims to build a globally competitive crane manufacturing platform in India by combining Japanese engineering with Indian manufacturing capabilities. The company is positioned to support infrastructure development and strengthen India’s role in the global construction equipment value chain.
