TNRERA gets 483 real estate agent registrations

As many as 483 realtors have registered with the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) till October 2021.

According to the data available with TNRERA's portal, a majority of the real estate agents, who have enrolled with the TNRERA, are under the individual category. The remaining have registered as companies.

The Tamil Nadu Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017 declare that all listed realtors must maintain books of account, records and documents under the terms of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 aims to organise and support the real estate sector by monitoring the transactions between buyers and promoters of residential as well as commercial projects.

It additionally has provisions for setting a regulatory authority at the state level called Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) for handling the real estate sector and adjudicating disputes associated with Real Estate Projects. The principal aim of the Act is to protect buyers and ease investment in the Real Estate Sector.
