Gradiant expands Coimbatore engineering centre

Gradiant has expanded its Global Engineering Center (GEC) in Coimbatore, more than doubling its engineering workforce from approximately 100 to over 200 professionals as it strengthens its global project execution capabilities.

The expanded centre will bring together multidisciplinary expertise across process engineering, detailed design and project engineering, enabling the India team to take on greater responsibility for the engineering and design of Gradiant’s international projects.

According to Govind Alagappan, COO, Gradiant, Coimbatore’s engineering talent and industrial heritage make it an important location for the company as it scales its global engineering capabilities.

The expansion will create opportunities for engineers to work on international projects involving advanced water and wastewater technologies, while gaining exposure to global engineering standards and multidisciplinary project execution.

The Coimbatore centre will support Gradiant’s growing project portfolio across sectors including semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals. The company said demand for advanced water treatment and wastewater recycling solutions is increasing as investment in AI infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing and data centres accelerates.

In India, Gradiant has delivered a 10,000 cu m per day wastewater recycling project for a solar PV manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. It has also delivered an integrated ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and recycling, and zero liquid discharge facility for a US semiconductor manufacturer at its Gujarat site.

Over the next three years, the company plans to further strengthen its engineering capabilities in India, with its Chennai and Coimbatore operations forming a strategic engineering hub supporting global projects.
