MHADA Picks AATK for Kamathipura Redevelopment, Awaits State Nod

MHADA has selected AATK Constructions for the long-awaited redevelopment of Kamathipura, one of Mumbai’s oldest and most congested neighbourhoods. The 34-acre project has now been forwarded to the state government’s High-Power Committee for approval before moving to the state cabinet for final clearance.
According to officials cited in a Times of India report, MHADA’s Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board received two bids—one from AATK Constructions and the other from J Kumar Infraprojects. After evaluating technical and financial submissions, AATK was declared the successful bidder and recommended for further approval.
MLA Amin Patel, who has championed the redevelopment for over a decade, said the project marks a historic opportunity for urban renewal. He noted that achieving consensus among landlords, tenants and the government had been challenging, but the approved plan will bring improved and dignified living conditions for thousands of residents.
