NaMo Grand Central Park Wins DNA Paris Design Award 2025

NaMo Grand Central Park, the signature green landmark in the heart of Thane, has been awarded the prestigious DNA Paris Design Award 2025 in the Landscape Design – Park & Public Space, Educational, Community & Recreation Facilities category. 

A transformative 25-acre public space, the park blends sustainability, design, and inclusive recreation. Developed by Kalpataru under the Thane Municipal Corporation's vision, it has garnered international acclaim for its innovative landscape architecture and people-centric planning. The award, announced in Paris, celebrates excellence across architecture, landscape, interiors, and urban planning. 

The park’s standout features include India’s largest skate park, a 3-acre artificial lake, fitness and leisure zones, an amphitheatre, elevated bridges, and botanical trails supporting over 3,500 trees, forming a vital oxygen hub for the city. 

“We are deeply honoured to see NaMo Grand Central Park receive global recognition at the DNA Paris Design Awards,” said Parag M. Munot Managing Director, Kalpataru.  “This award is a tribute to the vision of creating a world-class public park for the citizens of Thane. We thank our international collaborators, especially Landscape Architects 49 (L49), and the many urban designers, engineers, and planners who made this bold idea a reality. This is more than a park to us; it is a green legacy for generations.” 
Designed by L49, a renowned Thai landscape architecture studio, the park was selected by an international jury of top architects and urbanists. It has also been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2025, to be presented this November in Miami. 

About the Park: 
NaMo Grand Central Park is structured into three zones: Play Zone, Sports Arena, and Theme Gardens. The park showcases a distinctive ‘X’ bridge, four themed gardens inspired by Moroccan, Chinese, Japanese, and Mughal styles, and thoughtfully designed green areas promoting active, healthy living across all age groups. It spans 101,171 sq m, and is estimated to produce 884,000 pounds of oxygen annually, contributing significantly to local air quality.
