Omaxe Launches Rs 5 Billion Mixed-Use Omaxe Chowk in Ludhiana

Omaxe Ltd has announced the development of Omaxe Chowk, Ludhiana, a modern mixed-use high-street destination designed to redefine organised retail and luxury residential living in the city. The project is strategically located at Ghumar Mandi, one of Ludhiana’s most established commercial and wedding shopping hubs, and is being developed as an integrated urban destination combining commercial and residential components within a single planned development.

The 5.25-acre site has been secured through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Rail Land Development Authority and is being developed on a leasehold basis. With a total investment of around Rs 5 billion, Omaxe Chowk aims to bring scale, structure and contemporary urban planning to an already high-footfall market.

Conceived as a modern high-street format, the development reflects a shift in how cities engage with commercial spaces, where shopping is increasingly integrated with lifestyle and social experiences. Omaxe Chowk will bring together organised retail, luxury residences and celebration-led shopping, with a strong focus on weddings, jewellery, fashion, destination dining and entertainment. The project has been designed to offer a more structured and comfortable alternative to traditional market areas, while remaining aligned with Ludhiana’s established commercial culture.

Ludhiana continues to be a key market for Omaxe, driven by strong enterprise activity and everyday commerce. The developer said Omaxe Chowk is intended to feel contemporary yet familiar, emphasising walk-to-shop convenience through seamless connectivity between residential, office, retail and dining spaces. The project is planned around consumer demand for convenience, integrated living and a welcoming, experience-led environment.

The development will feature a balanced mix of premium retail stores, wedding and jewellery showrooms, fashion outlets, destination dining and an entertainment zone, catering to local shoppers as well as non-resident Indians who frequently visit Ludhiana for occasion-led purchases. A flagship food and experience zone, Dawatpur, is planned as a key attraction, alongside a curated mix of brands, details of which will be announced closer to launch.

Designed with visitor comfort in mind, Omaxe Chowk will offer two-side frontage with access from Rani Jhansi Road and College Road, enhancing visibility and ease of entry. The project will include wide access roads, organised entry and exit points, efficient internal circulation and parking for more than 1,000 cars. Wide pedestrian walkways and heritage-inspired architecture with a modern design approach are also planned to create a functional yet experiential destination.

The project is expected to generate significant employment during construction and create long-term jobs across retail, food and beverage, security, maintenance and facility management. By attracting brands, visitors and events, Omaxe Chowk is expected to boost surrounding businesses, increase footfall and contribute to sustained economic growth in Ludhiana.

Omaxe Chowk is being developed as a public-private partnership under an agreement between the Rail Land Development Authority and Ludhiana Wholesale Market Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Omaxe Ltd. The project is scheduled for delivery in line with RERA timelines by June 2030.

Omaxe has a presence across 31 cities in eight states, with a portfolio spanning residential, commercial, integrated townships and public-private partnership developments. Key projects include The Omaxe State in Dwarka, Omaxe Chowk in Chandni Chowk, World Street in Faridabad and Omaxe New Chandigarh. In FY2024–25, the company reported consolidated total income of Rs 16.37 billion.
