SEEPEX BN Pumps Boost Rock Blasting Efficiency

SEEPEX has introduced BN pumps with Smart Joint Access (SJA), designed for the reliable transfer of abrasive, corrosive and chemical media in mining and construction applications. Engineered for rock blasting, the pumps incorporate a large inspection opening for rapid joint checks, a compact footprint suited to mobile or skid-mounted installations, and flexible drive and material configurations.

“Operators can inspect joints quickly and rely on precise pumping of shear-sensitive and abrasive emulsions,” said Magalie Levray, Global Business Development Manager Mining at SEEPEX. “This is particularly critical in rock blasting, where every borehole counts for productivity.”

The SJA design enables direct access to both joints through the suction housing, supporting faster pre-operation inspections while maintaining operational reliability. Key features include compact integration for truck-mounted and factory systems, hydraulic or electric drive options, low-displacement design for reduced oil requirements, equal wall stator configuration for high-pressure performance, and material flexibility, including stainless steel or steel housings with chrome-plated rotors.

The pumps are suited for mining, tunnelling, quarrying, civil works and dam construction. In a recent implementation by an explosives provider, inspection cycles were shortened and downtime reduced, enabling consistent emulsion dosing and improved adherence to blasting schedules.
