India, France sign defence roadmap to boost industrial ties

India and France have signed a Defence Industrial Partnership Roadmap to strengthen collaboration in defence production and technology development. The agreement was finalised during a meeting between Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and French Armed Forces Minister Mr Sébastien Lecornu in Paris.

The roadmap aims to advance joint development and co-production of defence equipment under India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. It covers cooperation in critical technologies across land, air, and maritime sectors.

Both nations discussed boosting industry partnerships, supply chain resilience, and joint R&D efforts. They reaffirmed their commitment to maritime security in the Indo-Pacific and expanding the India-France Strategic Partnership.

The ministers also reviewed progress on collaborative projects such as aircraft engine manufacturing and naval platforms. The roadmap is expected to encourage private-sector participation and deepen long-term defence cooperation.
