JSW Motors And Tata Elxsi To Launch JNEXT Technology Centre

JSW Motors Limited (JSW Motors) and Tata Elxsi (Tata Elxsi) have formed an alliance to establish the JNEXT - JSW NextGen Technology Centre in Pune as a strategic engineering hub for next-generation software-defined, AI-powered mobility solutions for new energy vehicles. A memorandum of understanding was signed to formalise the partnership and to enable close collaboration with JSW Motors' research and development, manufacturing and leadership teams. The centre is intended to support development of connected platforms for electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

Tata Elxsi will lead delivery of the Connected Vehicle Platform and a unified customer experience application, owning the platform end to end from conceptualisation and integration through production and aftersales support in partnership with a broader ecosystem. The engagement will extend into software-defined vehicle architectures and intelligent platforms for diagnostics, performance optimisation and predictive maintenance, together with testing, validation, functional safety and cybersecurity frameworks aligned with global automotive standards. The partners expect the hub to accelerate development timelines and support indigenisation across the vehicle value chain.

The collaboration will bring capabilities across user experience design, cloud-native platforms, over-the-air frameworks and digital twins, and will enable intelligent solutions spanning location based services, AI/ML analytics, 5G-enabled technology and immersive AR/VR/XR experiences to enhance the ownership lifecycle. Tata Elxsi will draw on proprietary platforms such as TETHER Auto to deliver scalable solutions and to support production-grade software and data integration. The centre will also focus on building secure, standards-aligned engineering processes and on establishing local capability for software and systems engineering.

JSW Motors was established in 2024 to design and manufacture passenger vehicles focused on sustainable electric solutions and will leverage a forthcoming greenfield manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The JSW Group, valued at about US$23 bn, provides a diversified industrial base that the vehicle arm will draw on for scale and supply-chain localisation. Tata Elxsi has over 13,000 engineers and a track record in automotive engineering and software-defined vehicle platforms.
