Chandrababu Invites PM Modi to Launch Amaravati Reconstruction

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi as part of his official visit. The meeting, which lasted about one and a half hours, focused on key developmental issues concerning the state.

During the meeting, Chandrababu Naidu strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and expressed his unwavering support for any decision the central government takes in the fight against terrorism. He affirmed that Andhra Pradesh stands firmly with the Centre.

The Chief Minister also extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Modi to attend the foundation-laying ceremony for the revival of the Amaravati capital city works, scheduled for May 2. He requested the Prime Minister to be the chief guest at the event, which aims to mark the beginning of development projects in the state worth over Rs 1 trillion. The state government has prepared a detailed roadmap for implementing these projects and plans to have the foundation stones laid by the Prime Minister.

In addition to discussing Amaravati, the two leaders reportedly talked about the progress of the Polavaram project, other critical infrastructure initiatives, financial support, and promises made during the state bifurcation. Chandrababu Naidu conveyed that the state seeks central cooperation for the comprehensive development of Andhra Pradesh. The meeting is said to have been conducted in a positive atmosphere.

Preparations for the Amaravati foundation-laying event, set to take place behind the Secretariat in Velagapudi, are underway. Officials expect around five lakh people to attend the public gathering. A roadshow involving approximately 30,000 participants is also being considered for the same day, with both Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Naidu likely to participate. As a symbolic gesture for the launch of Rs 1 trillion worth of development works, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to unveil a commemorative pylon.
