Daimler Opens BharatBenz Service Centre In Silchar

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has opened a new BharatBenz service centre in Silchar, Assam, operated by PPS Trucking. Located on the Silchar Bypass at Ram Nagar near ISBT on NH 37, the 30,000 sq. ft. workshop has eight fully equipped service bays and an annual servicing capacity of up to 3,000 vehicles.

The centre is fitted with advanced diagnostic systems, modern tools and genuine BharatBenz spare parts to support efficient turnaround times and reliable maintenance. Customers will benefit from 24 by seven roadside assistance through a fleet of mobile service vans to provide prompt on?road support and improved vehicle uptime. The arrangement is intended to reduce downtime and support fleet operators' schedules.

The Silchar centre will serve corridors linking Assam with Mizoram and Manipur, strengthening support across an important logistics belt. The company linked the expansion to infrastructure upgrades in the Barak Valley, road works under the Asom Mala three point zero programme and industrial demand from limestone deposits in Dima Hasao. The centre also forms part of BharatBenz's broader strategy to deepen network presence in the Northeast.

Company executives said the facility responds to demanding route conditions in the Northeast and brings trained technicians and diagnostic capability closer to fleet operators. Rajiv Chaturvedi of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and Rajiv Sanghvi of PPS Trucking described the facility as a strategic addition to improve turnaround times and customer profitability.

Designed with driver well?being in mind, the workshop includes rest areas and will be staffed by a team of 35 technicians. After?sales services will include preventive maintenance programmes, scheduled servicing, on?site support and express options backed by a regional spare parts inventory. PPS Trucking will operate the centre as part of the BharatBenz service network and DICV produces trucks from 10 to 55 tons; the group represents an overall investment of Rs 95.6 bn.
