Delhi Govt to Install CCTV Surveillance at Anand Vihar, SKK ISBTs

The Delhi government has decided to install an extensive CCTV surveillance system at Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan Interstate Bus Terminals (ISBTs) to strengthen security and improve monitoring at two of the capital’s busiest transport hubs.

According to officials, the project is aimed at ensuring round-the-clock surveillance across all critical areas within the ISBTs. The CCTV network will cover entry and exit gates, passenger platforms, internal roads, parking zones and other high-footfall areas to enhance overall safety and operational oversight.

The surveillance system will enable continuous visual verification and live monitoring of activities through dedicated control rooms. Engineers and officials in charge will be able to monitor real-time footage, helping authorities respond quickly to suspicious activities, congestion or emergencies within the terminals.

An official said the CCTV network is expected to play a key role in crime prevention and detection, while also helping curb corruption and unauthorised activities. The system will allow authorities to closely monitor the movement of vehicles and commuters, as well as assess the alertness, deployment and performance of security personnel on duty.

In addition, the surveillance infrastructure is expected to support early detection of incidents and more effective emergency management. Real-time monitoring can help identify potential disasters or safety hazards at an early stage, enabling faster response and coordination among concerned agencies.

Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan ISBTs handle thousands of passengers daily and serve as major transit points for interstate bus services connecting Delhi with neighbouring states. Officials said strengthening security infrastructure at these terminals is essential to ensure commuter safety and improve overall passenger experience.

The CCTV installation forms part of the Delhi government’s broader efforts to upgrade public transport infrastructure, enhance safety standards and leverage technology for better urban mobility management.
