Delhi to Add 200 Electric Buses Under Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan

The Delhi government will add 200 electric buses to the city’s public transport fleet on October 14, taking the total number of buses to 7,000. The induction is part of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan, which includes the launch of infrastructure and welfare projects across the capital.

The new buses will include both 12-metre and nine-metre vehicles. Officials said the addition would strengthen the Delhi Transport Corporation’s electric bus fleet and support efforts to reduce vehicular emissions while improving public transport services.

The government is pursuing a broader plan to modernise Delhi’s transport infrastructure and expand bus services. It has set a target of increasing the city’s fleet to nearly 14,000 buses by 2028-29, with the expansion intended to encourage more commuters to use public transport.

Delhi has been steadily increasing the number of electric buses in operation. The latest induction is among several transport-related initiatives being undertaken to improve urban mobility and strengthen the city’s public transport network.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan is being observed from September 17 to October 17. The campaign was launched to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service and includes inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies for projects across Delhi.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
