DoNER Ministry Approves 86 Projects Worth Rs 19.70 Bn for Northeast

The Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved 86 projects worth Rs 19.70 billion for the eight northeastern states in 2024. As of December 15, Rs 1,590.81 crore has already been released under various schemes, including the NorthEast Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) for roads and other infrastructure.

These projects are aimed at boosting the region’s development under multiple schemes like PM-DevINE and NEC, along with special development packages. Additionally, Union Ministers have visited the northeastern states over 723 times since 2015 to review progress.

A major focus of the Ministry is the development of the Agarwood and tourism sectors. The Agarwood industry, native to the northeast, has immense economic potential, with plans to boost sustainable production and enhance international competitiveness. The tourism task force aims to develop world-class tourism sites in every northeastern state to attract global visitors.
