ECI to Hold Conference of State/UT Electoral Officers

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will host a two-day conference with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all States and Union Territories on March 4-5, 2025, at the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management in New Delhi.

This will be the first such conference since Shri Gyanesh Kumar took charge as Chief Election Commissioner. For the first time, CEOs have been asked to nominate a District Election Officer (DEO) and an Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to participate. These statutory authorities play crucial roles at the state, district, and assembly constituency levels.

The conference will provide a platform for brainstorming and sharing best practices. Day 1 will focus on modern election management, including IT infrastructure, effective communication, social media outreach, and the statutory roles of electoral officials. On Day 2, CEOs will present action plans based on the previous day’s discussions.
