Fadnavis sets strict deadlines for 10 key infra projects

In a decisive push to fast-track Maharashtra’s major infrastructure works, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed authorities to complete 10 key projects within fixed deadlines. Chairing a review meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House, Fadnavis stressed the importance of using advanced technology and efficient planning to ensure timely execution.

Among the metro projects, the Mumbai Metro Line 2B (D.N. Nagar to Mandale, covering 19 stations) has been given a completion target of 31 March 2027, while the Swami Samarth Nagar–Vikhroli Line must be finished by 31 December 2026. The Pune Metro Line 3 (Maan–Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar corridor), being developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), is expected to be ready by 31 March 2026.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the BDD Chawl redevelopment projects, directing that the Naigaon site be completed by June 2029, Worli by May 2029, and N.M. Joshi Marg by June 2031, calling them critical to Mumbai’s urban renewal.

Other major projects under review include the Shivdi–Worli connector, Thane–Borivali twin tunnel, Uttan–Vasai Sea Link, and the Orange Gate–Marine Drive urban tunnel, all of which will operate on 24-hour work schedules to meet deadlines.

The Airoli–Katai Naka Freeway is expected to cut travel time by about 20 minutes, while the Vadpe–Thane Road (23.8 km), a crucial link to the Samruddhi Mahamarg, is slated for completion by March 2026.

Expressing concern over the delays in the Bandra–Versova Sea Link, Fadnavis instructed contractors to deploy advanced construction technologies to speed up progress. Meanwhile, the Versova–Dahisar–Bhayandar Coastal Road has been targeted for completion by 30 December 2028, following recent central approval for coastal land use.
