Dr Jitendra Singh recently chaired a high-level review meeting at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to assess ongoing work under the nationwide ‘Mission Mausam’ initiative. Highlighting that the programme was personally announced by the Prime Minister, he urged officials from the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and IMD to expedite procurement and installation activities to ensure timely delivery of the project’s ambitious targets.

Senior officials, including MoES Secretary Dr M. He directed the teams to maintain transparency and efficiency in procurement processes and to fast-track installations in priority regions. He further called for the use of advanced tracking tools to monitor progress at the field level and ensure adherence to defined timelines. Expressing confidence in coordinated efforts between IMD and the Ministry, Dr Singh stated that Mission Mausam’s targets can be achieved ahead of schedule through sustained focus and timely implementation.
