Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited the CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH) in Chandigarh, inspecting the microbe repository and other research facilities while reviewing the institute's ongoing projects.

Singh, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, stressed the importance of microbial technology as a key pillar of biotechnology and its growing role in driving the next industrial revolution.

He also virtually connected with the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, where he inaugurated new facilities and engaged in critical scientific discussions.

Government Says Solar Curtailment Hit 8,133 GWh in April–June

India experienced solar power curtailment totalling 8,133 GWh during April–June this year, the minister of state for new and renewable energy told Parliament in a written reply. The curtailment was carried out to maintain grid security and resulted from transmission infrastructure lagging behind the rapid additions of renewable energy capacity. Researchers at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela have developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered autonomous system to monitor and clean solar panels only when required, a development designed to improve the efficiency of solar power plants while reducing maintenance costs and water consumption.
