The land acquisition for the Tumakuru Node, an Industrial Manufacturing Hub, has been progressing smoothly and the project is scheduled for completion in 2027, Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil said. He addressed the third meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust, which was chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The minister spoke virtually and outlined the State government's plans for the site. The State government has earmarked 1,736 acres of land in Tumakuru for the node, which the government says has the potential to attract investment of Rs 70 billion (Rs 70 bn) and generate over 88,000 jobs in the State. The figure of 88,000 jobs reflects projected employment across manufacturing and ancillary services at the hub. Officials emphasised coordinated planning to maximise benefits. The financial estimate and jobs projection signal a substantial scale for the development. The third Apex Monitoring Authority meeting brought together senior officials and ministers, including Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri. The meeting reviewed progress across the industrial corridor programme and considered timelines, land acquisition status and infrastructure readiness. The session included progress notes on infrastructure readiness. Patil reported that land acquisition was on track and that preparatory work for utilities and connectivity had advanced. Officials said the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust will continue to monitor implementation and coordinate with State agencies to ensure adherence to schedules and policy frameworks. The Tumakuru Node is positioned as a key manufacturing cluster intended to bolster regional investment and employment absorption in Karnataka. With a completion target of 2027, authorities aim to finalise remaining clearances and begin phased development while maintaining oversight through the Apex Monitoring Authority. Officials said further updates would be provided as milestones are met.
