Rithala to Kundli Corridor Secures Rs 13,733.6 Million Tender

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has advanced plans for a new metro corridor linking Rithala with Kundli via Narela and Nathupur as part of Phase IV of the network expansion. The 26.46 km line will extend the existing Red Line and pass through Rohini, Bawana and Narela, serving north-west Delhi and adjacent areas of the National Capital Region. The proposal is intended to deepen rapid transit coverage between the national capital and neighbouring Haryana.

DMRC has floated a Rs 13,733.6 million (mn) civil construction tender for a major section of the corridor that covers design and construction of the metro viaduct, ramps, sidings and the connection to the depot. The package specifies construction of 11 stations along the Narela–Kundli stretch from Narela Sector G-8 to Nathupur and covers civil works between 11.299 km and 26.705 km of the alignment. Tender documents emphasise viaduct engineering and interface works with the depot connection.

The full corridor is planned at 26.46 km with 21 stations in total and the overall project cost is estimated at Rs 62,300 million (mn). DMRC has signalled a target completion timeframe of approximately four years from award of major contracts, subject to statutory clearances and mobilisation. Key intermediate locations are intended to include multiple Rohini sectors and Bawana industrial pockets.

The extension will provide an additional fixed rail option linking residential neighbourhoods, industrial zones and transport hubs across north-west Delhi and parts of the northern NCR. By offering an alternative to road travel for commuters from Narela, Bawana and Rohini, the corridor is expected to relieve pressure on major roads and support lower vehicle emissions. The new line will add to existing Haryana links at Gurugram, Bahadurgarh and Ballabhgarh.

Station planning lists Rithala, multiple Rohini sectors, Barwala, several Bawana industrial sectors, Narela locations, Kundli and Nathupur as part of the detailed plan. The sequence and final station designs will be confirmed during contract execution and design development.
