As per news reports, the Maharashtra cabinet has approved the 2025 Housing Policy, marking the state’s first comprehensive housing roadmap since 2007. Titled Majhe Ghar, Majha Adhikar (My Home, My Right), the policy aims to construct 35 lakh affordable homes by 2030 with an investment outlay of Rs 70,000 crore. To support self-redevelopment, the government has allocated Rs 2,000 crore and proposed a dedicated cell to assist cooperative housing societies with planning, financing, and project execution. The policy also proposes creating a government land bank by 2026 in collaboration with key departments, enabling the construction of affordable housing stock across the state. To address stalled and slum rehabilitation projects, the state will introduce incentives under a cluster redevelopment scheme.Further, the policy encourages walk-to-work development by mandating that ten to thirty percent of land in industrial zones be reserved for housing. It also eases norms on tax, stamp duty, and FSI for senior living and student housing projects, promoting them for both sale and lease.Image source:disegnojournal
