K Raheja Corp Volunteers Craft Braille Cards for the Visually Impaired

K Raheja Corp, one of India’s leading real estate conglomerates, recently hosted a heartwarming volunteering initiative under its flagship ‘Time Off for Volunteering’ policy. Employees from across the group—including Mindspace Business Parks REIT, K Raheja Corp Homes, Inorbit Mall, and Chalet Hotels—participated in Tactile Braille Card Making for the Visually Impaired, reinforcing the company’s commitment to inclusion, empathy, accessibility, and social impact.

During the interactive workshop, participants crafted Braille learning cards using threads, textures, toothpicks, and ice cream sticks. The cards featured animals, fruits, flowers, vegetables, and everyday objects, enabling visually impaired children to explore the world through touch.

Adding a meaningful dimension, visually impaired youth joined the session to test the accuracy and usability of the cards, creating a rich exchange of perspectives and experiences.

“Braille is how we see, read, and connect with the world — our language of independence. It felt wonderful to see corporate India take the time to create these cards and understand what they mean to us,” shared Ajay, a participant.

The session also included moments of shared joy, with a visually impaired participant performing music, highlighting that inclusion extends beyond participation to shared experiences and connection.

“At K Raheja Corp, meaningful change begins with empathy and action. This initiative demonstrates how creativity and collaboration can make a tangible difference,” said Urvi Aradhya, CHRO, K Raheja Corp. “Seeing our people create learning tools for visually impaired youth truly reflects our culture of care, inclusion, and social responsibility.”

Gargi Modi, COO, ConnectFor, added: “It is inspiring to see K Raheja Corp employees so deeply engaged in accessibility initiatives. This effort goes beyond volunteering — it builds empathy, connection, and a shared sense of community.”

The completed tactile Braille cards were gifted to the partnering NGO for wider use among visually impaired children.

Through the ‘Time Off for Volunteering’ policy, K Raheja Corp encourages employees to turn compassion into action, offering paid time off to contribute to causes they care about. Over the years, employees have participated in initiatives such as coastline clean-ups, school painting, wheelchair assembly, and designing adaptive shoes, creating lasting connections between individuals, communities, and meaningful causes.
