Maruti Suzuki Preps for EV Shift

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, is investing heavily in upskilling its workforce as it prepares to launch its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) by March 2025. The company plans to train approximately 40,000 employees in the next three years to handle the intricacies of electric vehicle manufacturing and servicing.

The comprehensive training programme will cover various aspects of BEV technology, including manufacturing processes, quality control, and after-sales service. This initiative reflects Maruti Suzuki's commitment to a smooth transition into the electric vehicle market and ensuring a skilled workforce to support its ambitious EV production targets.

The company aims to have a production capacity of 1 million electric vehicles per annum by 2030-31. This substantial investment in human capital development underscores the transformative shift occurring within the automotive industry and Maruti Suzuki's determination to remain a leader in this evolving landscape. The training will encompass both existing employees and new recruits, ensuring a robust and capable workforce for the future of electric mobility.
