MCG To Set Up Zone-Wise Sanitation Monitoring Cells

Municipal Corporation of Gurugram will set up zone-wise sanitation monitoring cells to strengthen oversight of cleaning operations and waste management across the city. The initiative is aimed at improving daily sweeping, drain clearing, management of public toilets and support for waste segregation at source. The cells will focus on ensuring routine monitoring, prompt redressal of complaints and better coordination among field teams and contractors. The cells will liaise with contractors and maintain daily checklists to ensure standards are met and lapses are identified.\n\nEach monitoring cell will be required to collate field reports, analyse cleanliness indicators and flag persistent problem areas to senior officials for action. Technology will play a central role as the corporation intends to integrate mobile reporting, location tagging and dashboards for trend analysis. Citizen feedback mechanisms will be strengthened so that complaints are tracked and closed in a timely manner. Data from the cells will feed into weekly supervisory reviews and escalation protocols will be used to resolve chronic issues.\n\nThe monitoring framework will include regular audits, performance metrics and public disclosure of cleanliness scores to promote accountability. Training programmes for sanitation workers and supervisory staff will be prioritised to improve operational efficiency and service quality. Coordination with other urban departments will be sought to address cross cutting issues such as street lighting, encroachments and drainage maintenance. Where gaps are identified, targeted remedial plans will be developed and contractor performance will be reassessed.\n\nOfficials expect the cells to reduce response times, lower recurring complaints and contribute to better public health outcomes through sustained cleanliness efforts. The corporation will review performance periodically and adjust resources and zone boundaries as necessary to maximise impact. Community engagement will be encouraged so that residents play an active role in maintaining neighbourhood sanitation standards. Longer term, the corporation plans to use lessons from the pilot to refine city-wide strategies and reinforce preventive maintenance.
