MG Motor, Epsilon partner for EV charging, battery recycling

MG Motor India announced that it had entered into a partnership with the Epsilon Group to address EV charging solutions and battery recycling. Within this collaboration, the automaker finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two Epsilon Group subsidiaries - Power EV and LICO. Power EV will focus on providing charging solutions while LICO will handle battery recycling and second-life expertise.

According to the agreement, Power EV will be responsible for developing AC and DC charging solutions for MG's EVs, utilizing Custom Charging technology. MG Motor India stated that Power EV plans to actively engage in the MG charge initiative, which aims to deploy 1,000 charging points in 1,000 days within residential communities and apartments across India. The initiative aims to enhance the existing public charging network by increasing the availability of AC chargers and introducing high-capacity DC charging options.

Regarding battery recycling and certification services, LICO will support MG Motor India in fulfilling its Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations. MG Motor India's Chief Growth Officer, Gaurav Gupta, emphasized that the collaboration with the Epsilon Group represents a strategic alliance focused on establishing an efficient charging infrastructure. This infrastructure is intended to support a circular economy by offering second-life and end-of-life solutions for batteries.
