Naidu Seeks Rs 563 Crore For AP Sports Infrastructure

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sought Rs 563 crore from the Centre to boost sports infrastructure in the state, including Rs 538 crore for stadium development and Rs 25 crore to host the Khelo India Martial Arts Games 2025. Naidu made the request during a meeting with Union Youth Services and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The CM urged early completion of Khelo India infrastructure projects in Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, and Narasaraopeta, and called for an international-standard badminton training centre and a national aquatic sports hub in Amaravati, highlighting the potential of the Krishna riverbank for water sports.
Naidu requested Rs 27 crore for upgrading Indira Gandhi Stadium in Vijayawada, Rs 170 crore for a multi-sport complex at BR Stadium in Guntur, and Rs 341 crore for state-wide sports development. He also appealed for new Khelo India Centres to scout talent at the district level and proposed setting up a Sports Authority of India training centre in Tirupati.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host the Khelo India Martial Arts Games, assuring top-class venues across Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and other cities. Union Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu was also present. The CM is scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil during his Delhi visit.
