PM Modi Unveils Development Projects Worth Rs 25.80 Bn in Silvassa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and launched multiple development projects worth over Rs 25.80 billion in Silvassa, Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of Namo Hospital in Silvassa, aimed at strengthening healthcare facilities in the region.

The Union Territory has undergone significant transformation since 2014, evolving into a hub of modern infrastructure, industrial growth, and tourism. The government has been actively working to develop the region into a model territory with advanced healthcare, world-class educational institutions, and high-tech infrastructure. Administrator Praful Patel and the central government have played a key role in driving this progress.

Several government initiatives have contributed to this development, including One Nation One Ration Card, Jal Jeevan Mission, BharatNet, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima, and PM Suraksha Bima. Efforts are being made to achieve 100% implementation of initiatives like the Smart Cities Mission, Samagra Shiksha, and PM Mudra Yojana to ensure comprehensive growth.

The education sector in the region has seen major advancements, with the establishment of six national-level institutions, including Namo Medical College, Gujarat National Law University, IIIT Diu, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, and Daman Engineering College. These institutions provide education in multiple languages, and smart classrooms are enhancing learning at primary and secondary levels.

In healthcare, the newly inaugurated 450-bed hospital in Silvassa will significantly improve medical services, particularly benefiting the tribal population. This initiative aligns with Jan Aushadhi Diwas, which promotes affordable healthcare through Jan Aushadhi centers. Currently, over 15,000 such centers operate across India, with plans to expand to 25,000.

Public health initiatives are also being emphasized, particularly in addressing obesity and lifestyle-related diseases. Reports indicate that by 2050, over 440 million Indians could be affected by obesity. The government is encouraging citizens to adopt healthier habits, including dietary changes and increased physical activity.

Industrial growth in the region has accelerated over the past decade, with new investments and employment opportunities emerging through the Mission Manufacturing initiative. These developments have particularly benefited tribal communities, women, and marginalized groups, with schemes like the Gir Adarsh Jeevika Yojana fostering self-employment.

Tourism has been identified as a key sector for economic growth, with several projects aimed at enhancing its appeal. Developments such as Ram Setu, Namo Path, Tent City in Daman, and the Night Market are boosting tourism. Additionally, a large bird sanctuary, an upcoming eco-resort in Dudhani, and coastal development projects in Diu, including the Blue Flag-certified Ghoghla Beach, are attracting more visitors. The introduction of a cable car project in Diu is expected to further support tourism expansion.

These initiatives collectively aim to position Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu as a progressive and self-reliant region with a strong focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and sustainable economic development.
