Push for planned construction: HP chief secretary

Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena has announced that the Himachal Pradesh government is actively engaged in bolstering the state's disaster management system, with particular emphasis on addressing post-disaster needs, including relief and rehabilitation efforts. Chairing a review meeting centered on post-disaster needs assessment, Saxena highlighted that this assessment had been conducted by field staff from various departments across two distinct phases. The assessment primarily focused on evaluating infrastructure, the extent of damage to public and private property, and agricultural land.

Saxena also revealed plans to develop an advanced technology-based system for weather forecasting within the state. This technological enhancement aims to prioritize the safety of human lives by ensuring strict compliance with the rules outlined in the Urban and Town Planning Act. Additionally, planned construction works will be actively promoted to minimize potential risks.

Furthermore, the Himachal Pradesh government is committed to the stringent adherence of all provisions outlined in the Dam Safety and Regulation Act. In the event of water release from reservoirs, a robust warning system will be implemented to mitigate damage in downstream areas. These measures underscore the government's dedication to enhancing disaster management and response systems, focusing on both preparedness and recovery aspects.
