Schaeffler Steps Up Action Against Counterfeit Bearings In India

Schaeffler India, a leading motion-technology company, has intensified its efforts to eliminate counterfeit products from the Indian market, aiming to protect customers and industry stakeholders from substandard and potentially dangerous fake bearings and components. Working with local authorities, the company’s Brand Protection team conducted major enforcement operations on 4 and 7 November 2025.

Counterfeit products create severe risks to operational safety, equipment performance, and customer confidence. In response, Schaeffler has strengthened its vigilance and enforcement measures, collaborating closely with law-enforcement agencies to trace and dismantle unauthorised supply chains dealing in counterfeit Schaeffler goods.

The coordinated operations targeted five locations, including three wholesale outlets in the Kashmiri Gate area supplying fake products across India. Two additional storage sites in Priyadarshani Vihar and Old Gupta Colony, Delhi, were also searched. Thousands of counterfeit FAG wheel bearings, other FAG ball bearings, and fake packaging materials were seized. The enforcement team, comprising police officers and Schaeffler representatives, successfully identified and verified the counterfeit stock.

Schaeffler India is urging customers and partners to stay vigilant and verify authenticity before making purchases. Key indicators of genuine products include:

Unique Labelling and Code Verification – Schaeffler packaging includes a unique identification code and a two-dimensional barcode, which can be verified through the Schaeffler OriginCheck app.

Branding Accuracy – Authentic bearings feature precise branding, including the correct logo, fonts, and laser-marked product details.

Authorised Distribution Channels – Customers should purchase only from Schaeffler-authorised distributors to ensure product authenticity.

The company emphasises that counterfeit components can lead to unexpected equipment failures, unplanned downtime, increased maintenance costs, and disruption across supply chains. As part of ongoing efforts, Schaeffler continues to act against trademark misuse and counterfeiting to uphold confidence in genuine motion-technology solutions.

To protect operations, customers are encouraged to use the Schaeffler OriginCheck app for quick authentication. For concerns regarding counterfeit products, users can reach out via the company’s dedicated anti-piracy contact.

Schaeffler India reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with authorities and industry partners to strengthen enforcement measures and raise awareness, ensuring customers have access to safe, reliable, and authentic products
