Shriram AMC Launches Money Market Fund to Expand Debt Suite

Shriram Asset Management Company, part of the Shriram Group, has expanded its fixed income portfolio with the launch of the Shriram Money Market Fund, an open-ended debt scheme aimed at investors seeking liquidity, capital preservation and stable income through high-quality short-term instruments.

The fund will invest in money market instruments with maturities of up to one year, in line with SEBI and RBI regulations, while maintaining a controlled risk profile. Money market funds have increasingly gained traction as an efficient avenue for parking short-term surplus funds, offering relatively better returns than traditional savings instruments along with daily liquidity and lower volatility. Reflecting this trend, money market fund assets under management have grown more than threefold—from Rs 1.11 trillion in the October–December 2022 quarter to Rs 3.57 trillion as of November 2025, according to AMFI data.

Against this backdrop, the launch marks a strategic step in strengthening Shriram AMC’s fixed income franchise. The new fund complements the AMC’s existing offerings such as the Shriram Overnight Fund and Shriram Liquid Fund, and reinforces its focus on building a comprehensive and scalable suite of cash management solutions for institutional treasuries, corporates and individual investors.

The Shriram Money Market Fund will invest in a diversified portfolio comprising instruments such as commercial papers, certificates of deposit, treasury bills, triparty repo, repo and reverse repo in government securities, and government securities with residual maturity of up to one year. The scheme will be benchmarked against the NIFTY Money Market Index A-I (Total Return Index).

The launch also reflects Shriram AMC’s capability-building in fixed income, following the appointment of Amit Modani as Senior Fund Manager and Lead Fixed Income in October 2025. This is the first new fund introduced since his joining.

Kartik L Jain, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Shriram Asset Management Company Limited, said, “As liquidity management becomes a core component of portfolio construction, we are strengthening our fixed income offerings to address evolving cash management needs. With a clear emphasis on risk discipline and execution, we will continue to expand our fixed income product suite.”

Amit Modani, Senior Fund Manager, Shriram AMC, added, “Our approach focuses on high-quality instrument selection, prudent credit evaluation and active liquidity management to deliver risk-appropriate returns aligned with the fund’s objectives.”

The fund is available for lump-sum and SIP investments, with a minimum application amount of Rs 1,000, no exit load, and redemption proceeds expected within three business days.

Producers have scaled back output in response to fuel shortages and logistical challenges affecting domestic fertiliser production and have implemented staggered shutdowns to manage inventories. The disruptions have heightened..
