Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Collects Over ?5 Crore in One Day

The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has achieved a remarkable milestone by collecting over ?50 million in just one day during the National Lok Adalat.

Jamir Lengrekar, Additional Municipal Commissioner of UMC, announced that property tax holders who settled their dues on this special day received a 100% concession on all late fees. This initiative aims to encourage timely tax payments and alleviate the financial burden on property owners.

Historically, UMC has struggled with tax collection, resulting in insufficient funds for essential development work in the city. However, under the leadership of Lengrekar and Tax Assessor and Collector Neelam Kadam, the Tax Department is currently running a vigorous campaign to enhance tax revenue.

This proactive approach has proven successful, as the Municipal Corporation has collected over ?600 million in taxes within the last six months, significantly improving its financial position for urban development projects.
