Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the “Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya”, has launched several schemes and laid the foundation for rooftop solar across the country as well as a national portal for online tracking of installation of rooftop solar plants. The Prime Minister launched the Ministry of Power’s flagship Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. With an outlay of Rs.3 trillion over a period of five years from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26, the scheme aims to provide financial assistance to DISCOMs for modernisation and strengthening of distribution infrastructure, aiming at improvement of the reliability and quality of supply to end consumers.
