ELGi marks 13 years as partner of Coimbatore Marathon

Elgi Equipments has completed 13 years of association with the Coimbatore Marathon, reaffirming its commitment to promoting health, wellness and community well-being. As the “Powered By” partner, ELGi continues to support one of the region’s largest sporting and social impact events, which this year saw participation from over 25,000 runners, including more than 1,725 ELGi employees and their family members.
Organised by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, the marathon was established to raise awareness about cancer and support patients and their families. Over the years, proceeds from the event have enabled the foundation to expand initiatives such as early detection and screening camps, counselling and follow-up care, palliative services, and financial assistance covering treatment, diagnostics and rehabilitation.
Commenting on the continued association, Anvar Jay Varadaraj, Chief Operating Officer, Elgi Equipments Limited, said the marathon had become a unifying platform combining fitness, well-being and social responsibility, while enabling sustained support for cancer care initiatives.
Ramesh Ponnuswami, Executive President – Operations and ELGi Business System, and Race Director of the Coimbatore Marathon, said the event reflects ELGi’s emphasis on strong systems, disciplined execution and people-centric values, with a focus on delivering a safe and enriching experience for participants.
The marathon features multiple race categories, including a half marathon, 10 km and 5 km runs, a 5 km walk and a corporate relay, supported by medical services, hydration points and professional race management.
ELGi said its long-term partnership with the Coimbatore Marathon has helped foster a culture of fitness in the city while advancing awareness and action around cancer care, aligning with the company’s broader focus on building healthier communities through sustained social initiatives.
