JSPL produces 5.904 mt steel in April-December FY22, surges 9%

On Tuesday, the firm said that Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) produced 5.904 million tonnes (mt) steel in the April-December period of FY 2021-22.

The output was 9% higher at 5.904 mt as against the generation in the corresponding term of the preceding fiscal.

Conveying the sales figure for the October-December quarter, JSPL told the media it sold 1.82 mt steel during the stated term.

In Q3 FY’22, steel sales were constrained due to limited rake availability and unseasonal rains in certain states. In December 2021, the firm's sales reached 6.85 lakh tonnes.

JSPL Managing Director V R Sharma told the media that they have been able to attain a production increase of 9% in the first nine months of FY22. They are confident that in this financial year, they will be able to reach their aim of 8-8.2 mtPA.

JSPL, part of O P Jindal Group, has a powerful presence in the steel, power, and mining sectors with an investment of Rs 90,000 crore worldwide.
