Alliance Air approves tender to refurbish entire fleet of 18 ATR-72 aircraft

Alliance Air, an Air India subsidiary, has put out a tender to refurbish its entire fleet of 18 ATR-72 planes.

Air India is expected to be handed over to the Tata Group in the first half of this year, following its successful sale to the conglomerate in October last year. Alliance Air, on the other hand, will remain at the centre because it was not for sale.

The winning bidder will have to refurbish the cargo net, seat cushion repair, seat cover back and bottom, arm handle, floorboard, seat belts and buckles, tray table and its latch, according to Alliance Air's tender, which was obtained by PTI.

The vendor will have to refurbish several other items, including the engine cover, propeller strap, arm cap rest, interior cabin fabric, pitot cover, and small and large curtains, according to the tender.

Alliance Air has a fleet of 18 ATR-72 aircraft that fly to over 50 cities across India. There are approximately 70-72 seats on each of these planes.

Full aircraft carpet replacement will be required once a year on each aircraft, according to the tender.

The tender, which was issued last week, informed that central carpet replacement will be required every three months or as a conditional requirement on each aircraft.

The service provider must perform carpet cutting, edge binding, laying, and fixing of carpet in aircraft following the engineering department's requirements.

Interested bidders must first submit technical bids. They will be able to submit their final financial bids once they have received clearance.
