Govt issue guidelines for vaccination of aviation employees

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued guidelines for the vaccination of aviation workers across government and private firms. Pilots, cabin crew, air traffic controllers (ATC), and travellers facing the staff will be given priority for the vaccination.

The Ministry stated in its notification that airport executives would set up a devoted vaccination facility in their respective airports to facilitate quick vaccination of the staff.

The operators should directly reach out to the state government or private hospitals, the ones that are ready to set up Covid-19 vaccination centres at the airport.

According to the number of employees operating in the aviation system, there can be more than one service provider at any airport.

The release stated that airport staff must set up facilities like helpdesks, drinking water, restrooms, fans, vaccination counters, and separate waiting lounges.

The airport operator can decide the price of vaccination dose with the service provider, and which will remain the same for the aviation staff.

The ministry also stated that the ATCs, as well as the mission-critical, cabin and cockpit crew, and passenger-facing workers, must be prioritised during the vaccination.

The guidelines also mentioned that the centre of the major airports could be on tying up with private service providers.

For smaller airports, where private firms do not find it viable and the number of people to get vaccinated are limited, the airport workers can reach out to the district or regional authority for the vaccination schedule.
