New airport terminals to be constructed in J&K: Jyotiraditya Scindia

Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia has announced that two new airport terminals will be built in Jammu and Kashmir soon.

Scindia made the statement during a Harwan block of Srinagar district engagement event with members of the District Development Council (DDC), Block Development Council (BDC), Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI), and locals.

According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, a Rs 1500 crore airport terminal will be built on a 25 thousand square metre plot of land in Kashmir, while a Rs 650 crore airport terminal will be built on a 22 thousand sq m plot of land in Jammu.

Since a special focus is being placed on the development of both air and road connections in Jammu and Kashmir, a significant road network, including motorways, ring roads, tunnels, and other projects, is being built across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, according to the civil aviation minister.

Jyotiraditya Scindia went on to say that increased connectivity will attract more tourists to J&K and boost local crafts.

He claimed that promoting tourism and handicrafts will increase the people of J&K's economic activities and prosperity.

Scindia said that, among other major projects, work on a Rs 3000 crore ring road was underway, and that 100% of households now had access to electricity.

According to the minister, 82% of the population is currently connected to and receiving tap water, and the government is committed to covering all households shortly.
