New terminal building at Pune airport to be completed by Jan 2023

According to the sources, the under-construction terminal building of the Pune airport will be completed by January 2023.

The new deadline is a delay of five months of the earlier proposed date in August this year. An official said that over 68% of the work had been completed, and the airport's terminal building will be operational by January next year.

Sources said that after the terminal building is completed, it would need necessary permissions and approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The work worth Rs 415 crore is in full swing. It will be ready for initial operations by April 2022, followed by the construction work of the skywalk connecting the parking to the existing terminal building. It would take another month to complete the entire project worth Rs 120 crore.

The airport project has been delayed twice with extended deadlines. The airport authorities should push the work to complete the new proposed airport.
