BBMP Plans Roads Along Drains to Ease RR Nagar Traffic

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has instructed officials to commence road construction along the buffer zone of stormwater drains (SWDs) near Hosakerehalli Kodi Road in the RR Nagar zone.
During an inspection, he stated that land acquisition, if required, should be carried out using Transferable Development Rights (TDR). He also visited nearby crossroads and directed that repair works be completed promptly to facilitate smooth vehicular movement.
BS Prahallad, Technical Director of Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE), highlighted that to address traffic congestion in the city, an ambitious Rs 30 billion project has been launched under the ‘Sanchara Yukta’ programme. It aims to construct 300 km of roads along SWD buffer zones across Bengaluru, including 70 km within RR Nagar zone.
Prahallad emphasised that developing roads along stormwater drains will significantly improve connectivity in multiple areas, alleviating local traffic bottlenecks and enhancing access across key neighbourhoods.
