BDA To Begin Land Acquisition For Kaniminike Approach Road

The Bangalore Development Authority is set to issue the final notification for land acquisition on April 30 to construct an approach road to its Kaniminike apartment complex project. The announcement was made by the BDA Kaniminike Residents' Forum in a press release, citing sustained requests from residents for a direct road. The authority decided to move forward with the notification after repeated representations about access difficulties.

The project is spread over 50 acres in south Bengaluru and comprises around 1,500 apartment units. It faces significant connectivity challenges that compel residents to rely on circuitous routes and extended travel times. Daily commuting has been described as impractical by those who live in the complex because of the lack of a direct approach. The limited access has implications for emergency response times and for routine access to schools, markets and health services for residents.

One access option requires drivers to take a turn near Gurukula School and navigate a narrow one way service road through Kaniminike followed by a constrained railway underpass. The alternative involves a detour of 4.5 km via Hejjala Judicial Layout, which is time consuming and impractical for routine travel. Both routes were cited as inadequate by community representatives seeking improved connectivity. Community representatives said a direct road would substantially reduce congestion and improve daily convenience for residents and visitors alike.

Residents met the BDA chairperson and the commissioner in November and pressed for a dedicated approach road to the project. A member of the residents forum welcomed the authority's decision and expressed hope that tangible progress would follow. The notification is expected to facilitate safer, more direct access and to reduce travel time for those living in the apartment complex. Following the notification, formal surveys and compensation processes will be expected to take place before construction begins.
