Beginning of road construction at Teesta Spur No. 9

The long-awaited route from Jalpaiguri's Jubilee Park to the Teesta Number 9 Spur officially began construction. For a long time, the locals have clamoured for asphalt roads. Jalpaiguri Legislator Pradeep Kumar Barma laid the road's cornerstone. After Independence, this will be the first tarmac road in the region.

The Khariya Gram Panchayat's residents of Sarada Pally and the neighbouring villages had long demanded the construction of a tarred road and had also participated in numerous demonstrations.

Large craters caused by the road's poor state have created problems, especially during the wet season. With the help of the state's Panchayat and Rural Development Department and the initiative of Jalpaiguri MLA Pradip Kumar Barma, construction on the nearly three-kilometer road has finally begun. The road is being built with an estimated budget of Rs 10 million.
