BMC cancels ₹58 billion tender for road concretisation

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has cancelled a Rs 58 billion road-concretising tender process due to an appallingly low bidder response. The tender, the highest in the civic body's history, was issued in August. BMC intended to investigate the reasons for the poor response and, without sacrificing quality, make the necessary changes, invite new terms, and stipulate new conditions. The tender for road construction will then be reopened. The civic body had invited bids for the construction of 400 kilometres of city roads at a cost of Rs 58.06 billion. It had issued five separate tenders: three for the western suburbs and one each for the island city and the eastern suburbs.
