Ceigall India bags Southern Ludhiana Byp construction project

Ceigall India Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for constructing the 25.24 km Southern Ludhiana Bypass project in Punjab after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened financial bids.

This 6-lane greenfield and access-controlled section of Ludhiana Ring Road (RR) will connect the 650 km under-construction Delhi–Katra Expressway near Ballowal with the existing National Highway (NH) 44 at Rajgarh.

NHAI considers this project a part of the Ludhiana–Ajmer Economic Corridor. Last year, it invited bids for its construction with a 2-year deadline and a Rs 601.68 crore project estimate. The technical bids were opened in April 2022 to reveal the four bidders.

The four bidders include Ceigall India, Varindera Constructions, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures and GR Infraprojects, with Rs 702 crore, Rs 768 crore, Rs 811 crore and Rs 851 crore, as their bid quoted prices, respectively.

The construction of the 6-lane greenfield Southern Ludhiana Bypass from intersecting with NH-44 to intersecting with Delhi-Katra Expressway is a part of Ludhiana-Ajmer Economic Corridor on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) under Bharatmala Pariyojana (BMP) Phase-I in Punjab.

Additionally, the Ludhiana ring road will connect to the 75.4 km Ludhiana–Bathinda Expressway and 91 km Ludhiana–Rupnagar Expressway, for which civil contracts have already been awarded.
