The state Transportation Department is preparing to make Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) mandatory for all commercial vehicles in the state in order to track their exact location. It has been decided that immediate interventions will be made in the event of an emergency. The department has already issued a tender for the listing of VLTD manufacturers. The project's goal is to implement a tracking system for continuous monitoring of public transportation vehicles for improved passenger safety, road safety, and support for enforcement services, said Snehasis Chakraborty, state Transport Minister.
