The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Anshul Garg, chaired a review meeting to assess progress on the Srinagar Ring Road Phase II and Phase II A in Ganderbal district and directed concerned departments to expedite execution of the infrastructure project. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore, the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), chief engineers of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) departments and other senior officers. During the session the Divisional Commissioner reviewed land acquisition, compensation disbursement, handover of acquired land, removal of trees along the project alignment, demolition of private and government structures, court-related references and utility shifting that have been hindering progress. He instructed officers to compile comprehensive details on acquired land, land already handed over to the executing agency and pending court references by Friday and to carry out a joint site inspection on Saturday to evaluate the ground situation. To facilitate uninterrupted work the Divisional Commissioner directed departments to expedite removal of trees within the alignment in accordance with prescribed procedures while considering transplantation where possible and ensuring compensatory afforestation in other cases. Regarding private structures located on state land he instructed the NHAI to follow executing agency compensation norms and ensure prompt resolution, and directed that government buildings be handed over to the executing agency on an Equal Value Infrastructure basis. On the issue of the new PHE pipeline the Divisional Commissioner instructed the Chief Engineer, PHE, to facilitate connection with the existing water supply network without disrupting essential services so that progress on other works is not impeded. He emphasised the importance of accurate documentation timely resolution of pending issues and close coordination among all stakeholder departments to remove impediments and accelerate the pace of work on the Srinagar Ring Road project.
