For G20 Summit, Delhi PWD to construct a road to reach Pragati Maidan

According to sources, a tender has been published by the Public Works Department to build a short access road from Purana Qila road to the Pragati Maidan gate for VVIP movement during the G20 Summit. This year's main G20 summit meeting will take place at the Pragati Maidan Convention Center, along with other activities. At Pragati Maidan gate number 6, which is probably the major entrance for foreign dignitaries to the Convention Center, beautification work is now being done. At the entrance, horticultural projects and steel sculptures are being installed.

A significant portion of the region was damaged during the earlier construction of an underground transit corridor. PWD is fixing it at the moment. PWD is also working on projects at Bhairon Marg and Mathura Road, where the department is resurfacing the roads with pavement and traffic island elements. Purana Qila Road, which is semi-circular above the tunnel, will now be straightened to give VVIPs direct access to gate number 6, according to PWD officials.

A PWD official stated, "A section of the Mathura route will be temporarily barricaded when there will be VIP mobility. There isn't yet a direct route from Purana Qila Road, which connects to India Gate, to Mathura Road.” India assumed the G20 leadership in November of last year and will host a number of meetings in addition to the main summit. Infrastructure is being updated to improve the appearance of the city.
