Model road with intelligent transport system to be developed in Noida

A model road with an intelligent transport system will be developed in Noida near Sector 71 on the lines of megacities across the globe. According to the traffic volume, the Authority will convert a 4 km-long stretch on the Master Plan 3 road into a model road zone with sensor-based signals to allow the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

The officials told the media that the project could be extended to other parts of the city if successful.

The model road was one of the three projects Noida Authority CEO cleared on Tuesday.

Almost Rs 30 crore is going to be spent giving shape to the three projects, the others being a dog park in Sector 137 and a waste-to-wonder park on the green belt close to the Mahamaya flyover.

As per the officials, the tender document of the model road project is being finalised and will be launched within a short time. The Authority will also install public address systems at regular intervals across the stretch, Wi-Fi enabled.

Automated reflectors will also be put up that will be starting to glow in the night if a pedestrian tries to cross the road.

Facading will be done on both ends of the road, and commuters will be told in advance that they will shortly get into the model road zone to give a different feel.

The officials told the media that the wide walkways would be set up with two crossings for pedestrians on the way. Both sides will be having a tree cover and a cycle track to encourage cyclists and e-bike users.

The maximum amount of money will be utilised to build the waste-to-wonder park that will exhaust Rs 15 crore, while the model road will be developed at the cost of Rs 12 crore.

A dog park is going to be set up at the cost of Rs 3 crore. Officials told the media that the dog park and the waste-to-wonder park would be developed on the public-private partnership model while sharing the details and that the Authority would provide the land to the interested agencies and seek a share in their revenues in return.
