New Roundabout to Fix Blind Spot Near Ukkadam Bus Stand in Coimbatore

The road safety wing of the State Highways Department in Coimbatore has planned to construct a roundabout at the Valankulam bypass road junction. This is in response to concerns raised by motorists and social activists regarding a blind spot near the Ukkadam bus terminus exit, which was created after the construction of the Ukkadam flyover.

The 3.8 km, Rs 481.95-crore flyover, which was inaugurated on August 9, has included several roundabouts in key areas. However, the blind spot near the Ukkadam bus stand has become a major issue for traffic safety. The roundabout will be constructed at the Valankulam Road junction to improve visibility and prevent accidents.

Additionally, the plan includes correcting the road surface's slope and leveling uneven gradients to ensure better traffic flow, especially for buses exiting the bus stand.
