NHAI intends to build underpasses in Uruli Kanchan, Loni, and Theur Phata

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has approved three new underpasses at these locations to separate local traffic from highway traffic as the traffic situation on the Pune-Solapur highway is becoming dire with frequent road crossings at Uruli Kanchan, Loni, and Theur Phata leading to accidents. These three locations will shortly start working.

Large-scale real estate projects have increased the population density in the towns of Uruli Kanchan, Loni, and Theur Phata. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport, has ordered the construction of underpasses in the interim to ensure safe traffic movement.

While Uruli Kanchan, Loni, and Theur Phata on the Pune-Solapur highway have traffic signals built by the NHAI, local police are frequently called out as a result of hours-long highway traffic backups. These three crossings add to the length of travel time on the highway, particularly during rush hour.

These underpasses will safeguard local residents' safety while facilitating smooth highway traffic. Many school children and young people cross these intersections, and frequently there are serious accidents.

Once completed, the underpasses will contribute to a reduction in accidents and an improvement in public safety.
